On my final outing and assessment of the stretch of coastline between Maidencombe and the Ness at Shaldon, I was dismayed to see the extent of subsidence that had taken place since my last excursion on September 2nd 2013.
The most shocking damage was evident at the tiny Blackaller's Cove (above) where a whole section of cliff has given way and slipped down almost onto the cove itself.
It was the same story at eight of the fourteen coves that make up this hitherto beautiful section of coast which can be glimpsed from the South West Coast Path directly above.
Bundle Head, to the south of the Ness, has had more subsidence and, given the height of the cliff, could conceivably give way completely. This would effectively sever the link from all coves to the south.
